Fort Darby - A Community of team endeavors impacting lives

  • A place where everyone has a place, every person matters.
  • A place of craftsmanship and expertise and learning.
  • A place to discover and share.  Fort Darby Plan
  • A place to buy a really cool rocking chair or get that part welded on your tractor.
  • A place to watch an old, beat up car become a head turning, pulse elevating street shredder.
  • A place to learn to ride a horse or prepare him for show.
  • A place to learn how to grow prize winning tomatoes or peppers.
  • A place to check off the materials list for your next rural project and talk to a wise and experienced old timer about the best way to put it together.
  • A place to play checkers on the boardwalk under the awning with a coke in a glass bottle on a hot summer afternoon.
  • A place to learn the best way to winterize your RV.
  • A place to learn the best way to transition your horse from field grass to winter feed.
  • A place to get a free coffee and chat with the guys on your way to work.
  • A place to stop for a sandwich at lunch time or a home cooked meal at dinner.
  • A place where your friends spend their time.
  • A place where you teach people what you have learned over the last 60 years and they listen and it changes they way they live their lives.
  • A place where you go on Tuesday nights to meet with other men who are trying to figure out the mystery of marriage and their role as husbands, fathers and men.
  • A place that opens early and closes late.
  • A place to take your son on Saturday morning to learn how to shoe a horse, swing a hammer or build a bird house.
  • A place where your depressed teenage daughter can fall in love with a horse named Rusty that gives her a new perspective and a chance to grow through her confusion.
  • A place where your rebellious teenage son can learn how to produce something meaningful with his hands under the watchful eye and caring heart of a man who understands the need for character, hard work and a fully alive heart – and then sell it at a Saturday market and experience the victory of purpose and appreciation.
  • A place where a lonely elderly widow can care for people, share her life and her 50 years famous German chocolate bundt cake that everyone loves.
  • A place where a business executive who is tired of the corporate ladder in the city can find out what the heck to do with the Five acres he just bought in Ridgefield without feeling like a disrespected green horn.  He is given the credit for discovering the value of rural life and the gift of wisdom and knowledge in a continuing education from those who did before him.
  • A place where you bring your family for a Sunday potluck after church with a dance and a fireworks show in the evening on the fourth of July.
  • A place you can bring your kids and let them run off while you discuss the finer points of your weekend project and not worry about them being safe.
  • A place you take your hotrod for the Saturday cruse in.
  • A place where you go to buy a new saddle or some garden fertilizer or a bushel of zucchini or some boots or a pole building kit or a custom made rocking chair or something else important and when you do, you feel like you made a fair trade, not because you got it cheap, but because the person you bought it from took care of you, worked hard, gave you something of value and deserved the appreciation of your hard earned money.
  • A place where you can always find a quiet spot to slow down, sip a beer or soda or milkshake, listen to the sounds of people, fit in and feel at home while the cares and stresses of the too busy world get quieter and quieter.
  • A place you can go to be the epitome of who you are, celebrate your glory and be recognized for the man or woman you have always dreamed of being.  You can shout and flex and strut and do it with your family and not be arrogant.
  • A place where the God of creation and love and peace and joy and forgiveness and restoration and new life and glory is present and involved and pleased.
  • A place that feels like you have always known such a place is supposed to feel.
